IT’S GOING TO BE BIG!

We’ve been doing some phoning and emailing round and so far we have been told of about 500 coaches due to come to the march.

Even allowing for the fact that some of these are different people telling us about the same coach, that is still a huge number. And there are probably local coaches that neither we nor our union contacts know about.

This is a great success, but brings its own challenges so please read on if you are organising a coach or coming by public transport.

TRANSPORT MATCHING MAP GOES LIVE

Our new map that allows people with spare transport places to offer them is now live.

We are running this as part of the False Economy website, as they already have a terrific mapping tool for collecting information and testimony about the cuts.

The transport map is available at www.falseeconomy.org.uk/themarch.

TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

The most challenging aspect of the organisation of the event is going to be getting everyone there and home again afterwards as this is likely to be such a big event. We know that trains have already been booked from around the country, and we expect a very large number of coaches. We are still working on the transport plans for the day, but this is what we can say so far about transport arrangements.

DATES FOR ROUTE STEWARD TRAINING

Here are the first dates for our route steward training courses. There’s more about being a steward here and here, where you will also find the sign-up form.

STEWARDS WANTED FOR MARCH FOR THE ALTERNATIVE

The March for the Alternative on March 26th is going to be huge! That means we are going to need lots of volunteer stewards to help make the day a well-run, family-friendly event.
